The USGA 56th Open Championship was held June 14-16, 1956 at Oak Hill County Club’s East Course. Three US Opens have been held at Oak Hill; 1956, 1968 and 1989. Cary Middlecoff won his second US Open title in 1956. Founded in 1895, the United States Golf Association’s US Open is the second oldest major championship in the world, held yearly except for 1917-18 and 1942-45 due to World Wars I and II.
